NovaSkill Apprentice scores John Holland's Top Award

Callum Howarth a third year carpenter was recently presented with John Holland’s prestigious Apprentice of the Year Award for the NSW/ACT region. The award was judged by Callum’s managers and senior level management and was awarded based on work commitment, ethics, technical skills, team player capability and ability to learn.
Employed by Apprentice and Trainee leasing specialists, NovaSkill, Callum has been working on John Holland’s refurbishment of the Maitland Hospital Emergency department for the last 10 months and Callum says “Working on a project of this size and scope has been fantastic. It has given me a great opportunity to learn new skills and to work in areas of construction I might not have been able on a smaller job.”
Teamwork was an important element of the judging criteria and Scott Eaglesham the Assistant Project Managers says “Callum has proven himself to be an excellent team member with enthusiasm, initiative and he displays great potential to do well in his future career.”
NovaSkill’s Apprentice Leasing Manager Phil Petersen is equally impressed with Callum’s achievements to date stating “Callum has proven himself to be a willing and attentive apprentice successfully balancing both his work commitments and his studies.” Phil goes on to say “An apprentice like Callum is an asset to both NovaSkill and John Holland and this award demonstrates the long term commitment both companies have towards developing our future trade’s people.
